Special edition of "Western Review" 2020 in English
The next special edition of "Western Review" in English consists of translations of selected articles that originally appeared in Polish in four volumes of the quarterly of the Western Institute in 2019.
Among them are studies addressing the issues of the Western Territories, incorporated into the borders of Poland as a consequence of territorial changes after World War II. They were one of the subjects of study conducted at the Western Institute since its establishment in 1944, as evidenced, among other things, by the dissertation that opens this volume. Subsequent articles in the volume treat literary images, as well as individual and collective testimonies of eras and landmark events. Generational rebellion, migratory dilemmas or a call for reconciliation, isolated in its time, are looked at today with knowledge of the scale of the changes caused by them, affecting entire communities and nations. The third group of studies presented undertakes political and legal analyses of the contemporary situation in Europe and the European Union.
