The author discusses the displacements of Poles and Jews to German-occupied Poland, mainly from the Warta Country administrative district. Descriptions are provided of displacement plans, the actual displacement process, the organization and methods of displacement and the conditions in which the displaced were transported. A centerpiece of the displacement process were special camps set up to contain the deported population. Personal memories and accounts of stays in such camps paint a much more cruel picture of this war-time history episode than that recreated based on the occupant's plans, regulations and instructions.
